Paulo’s research with complex networks focuses on the origin and maintenance of large-scale patterns in ecological systems, particularly on the interactions among individuals within a population and to species interactions within an ecological community.

Rafael develops individual based models to simulate scenarios in which disruptive selection and non-random mating may lead to the origin of new species, considering the effects of competition and the structure of mutualistic newtorks.
